It's Parker's 130th Anniversary and to celebrate they've introduced the Duofold fountain pen "The Craft of Travelling" edition in deep blue and brass. Influenced by the Parker brand founder himself, George Parker, this pen features a laser etched world map,an 18 kt solid gold Medium nib and a Lapis Lazuli 2ct jewel in the cap. Limited to 1300 pieces worldwide.
It is assembled manually by 22 different components in Nantes, France.
The Parker Duofold 130th Anniversary limited edition pen features a design with many influences:
- Antique maps - finely engraved with hand drawn engravings and rich with patina - "a green or brown film on the surface of bronze or similar metals, produced by oxidation over a long period"
- Traditional materials - classic artwork and quality craftsmanship
- Luxury travel - well worn, cherished and gets better with age
- Low relief techniques - multi layered engraved surfaces
The two tone nib features a compass to pay tribute to navigation in addition to the types of tools George Parker would have used to travel the world. The gift box features a vintage luggage style finished with metallic latches and hinges. Inside the lid of the gift box is a traditional map highlighting areas visited by George Parker himself. Included is an ink bottle with a unique label plus removable pen holder.
This limited edition fountain pen pays tribute to George S. Parker's passion to travel the world. George travelled far and wide regularly to different locations around the world. This pen isn't the first Parker product influenced by his travels, the mandarin yellow Parker Duofold was inspired by a vase Mr Parker discovered in Japan.
